Across Camden Town each May, the bars stock up, the amps are plugged in, and the traffic stops. Over two days, a maelstrom of bands descend on North London's centre of 'alternative' culture for spoken word events, performances, games, clubnights – and literally hundreds of live shows. More than 25 venues take part, stretching from full-scale gig venues to intimate pubs. Discover new bands; see more live music in a day than in a normal week; and explore Camden Town's better and less well-known venues.
Alongside well-known headline gigs, a horde of unsigned bands apply to play showcases at venues across Camden – Mumford and Sons and Amy Winehouse are amongst the acts who played early on in their careers.
Last year, headliners included Death In Vegas, The Cribs, Alabama 3, Glasvegas and The Futureheads.
The alumni of Camden Crawl. Despite only launching in the early 1990s, Adele, Plan B, Example, Florence and the Machine have all graced its stages.
Will you spot the next big thing? The excitement comes from not knowing if you're about to see 30 minutes of the most beautiful, well-constructed, soulful pop music, or a half-hour long guitar based metal fest.
You will get a programme listing alll the acts playing at the Crawl; while you might want to do some research beforehand to scout out interesting shows, make sure you also go 'off-piste' and try a band you've never heard of!
While CC is more about discovery - finding new bands you've never heard of - there are also well-known headliners playing larger shows at venues like KOKO.
Tickets are to be exchanged for wristbands which allow free entry to each of the participating venues throughout the festival as individual capacities permit. Wristbands and programmes announcing the full line ups and timings for the event are obtainable from 11:00 am onwards each day at the Camden Crawl ticket exchange point.
ALL SHOWS ARE STRICTLY 18+
