Bruno Mars has come a long way from childhood Elvis impersonator to the man who seems to have taken on the ‘King of Pop’ mantle from long time hero and obvious inspiration Michael Jackson.
Now an undisputed festival headliner across the globe – from Lollapalooza to Rock in Rio to Roskilde – it’s probably fair to say that not many people predicted a success story quite this spectacular when the fresh-faced Hawaiian was releasing early singles like ‘Grenade’ and ‘Just the Way You Are’.
But fast-forward less than 10 years and Bruno Mars finds himself sitting alongside the likes of U2, Bruce Springsteen and Kanye West on the list of best-selling artists of all time, with recent singles like ‘24K Magic’, ‘That’s What I Like’ and ‘Finesse’ getting platinum certifications all over the world.
A huge part of the success has to be attributed to his live performances, where he combines his undeniably impressive vocal abilities with dance moves and showmanship reminiscent of MJ, James Brown and Prince.
It’s this reputation for captivating live shows that has resulted in his ongoing ‘24K Magic World Tour’ making more than $300 million (and counting) at the box office, as well as earning him 5-star reviews from critics across the globe.
