Queen & Adam Lambert
One of the 20th-century’s most critically and commercial celebrated artists, Queen will undeniably go down in the echelons of classic rock music.
Owing much to the enigmatic and flamboyant virtuoso frontman Freddie Mercury, Queen became one of the world’s biggest rock bands throughout the 70’s and 80’s, dominating singles charts, album charts, and stadiums alike.
Songs like as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We Will Rock You’, ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, ‘I Want To Break Free’, and ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ are so embedded in popular culture, you’d likely know the songs off by heart even if you didn’t realise who’s songs you were singing. Even infiltrating the world of sport, ‘We Are The Champions’ is regularly chanted by fans supporting the victorious team.
After an iconic show-stealing performance at Wembley during 1985’s Live Aid charity concert, Freddie Mercury tragically passed several years later in 1991 when Queen were still creatively in the ascension.
Years passed until guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor decided to tour again. Re-invigorated with the addition of ex-Pop Idol contestant Adam Lambert, flamboyant in his own right, Queen once again prevailed plumping for festival headline slots alongside stadium shows.
Triumphant festival headline performances at Isle of Wight Festival, TRNSMT, and Rock In Rio Lisboa put Queen back on the radar as one of the must-see festival acts.
