Rage Against the Machine
Formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1991, Rage Against the Machine released their self-titled debut album in 1992, featuring the singles 'Killing in the Name', 'Bullet in the Head' and 'Bombtrack'. The record was politically heavy, widely critically acclaimed and sold 5 million copies worldwide, laying the groundwork for the success that would follow.
Further albums Evil Empire, The Battle of Los Angeles, and Renegades followed between 1996 and 2000, a period defined by increasing success, vocal political activism, and often controversy – but not long after the turn of the new millennium, the band were left in disarray as vocalist Zach de la Rocha departed (with the rest of the members forming supergroup Audioslave with the late Chris Cornell).
RATM reunited in 2007 and played their comeback show at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in their home, which contrary to widespread rumours turned out to be more than a one-off and the band continued to work together and perform until around 2011, before entering an undefined period of hiatus.
Now, after nearly a decade since their last live appearance, the band have announced a large-scale 'reunion' for a tour for 2020, including a stop at Coachella again, as well as appearances at Ottawa Bluesfest, Reading & Leeds, Rock en Seine, Firefly, and more.
