Zara Larsson

In 2008 the dreams of a ten-year-old girl from Solna, Sweden, came to life when she was announced as the winner of the televised national talent competition after a forceful rendition of Celine Dion’s ‘My Heart Will Go On’. It was the kickstart Zara Larsson needed, fast-tracking her straight into the focus of Sweden’s music industry, and only a few years later signed a record deal and, at the age of only 16, was certified platinum with  ‘Uncover’.

But both the release of ‘Lush Life’ and her subsequent performance of ‘This One’s For You’ with David Guetta at the opening and closing ceremonies of the EUFA Euro 2016, less than ten years since her Sweden’s ‘Got Talent’ appearance as a child, signalled however that Larsson was now ready for international stardom. And boy did it follow quickly. A string of singles including ‘Ain’t My Fault’, ‘I Would Like’ and ‘Symphony’ lead to the release of her debut album So Good, with the latter track featuring Clean Bandit becoming her first UK Number One.

Outspokenly feminist and charismatic, Zara Larsson’s early start hasn’t stopped her from keeping her head screwed on, which, added to her growing list of pop-bangers, proves she deserves the hype, with or without the help of a Celine Dion cover.
