EDC Las Vegas 2018: The Ultimate Preview

In just a few days time nearly half a million people will descend on Las Vegas for Electric Daisy Carnival. And by those figures I think it's fair to say EDC has become some sort of mecca for dance music fans, as it transforms the city's Motor Speedway into an immersive musical fairytale.

So whether you're one of the lucky ones about to head out to Las Vegas, or currently sat in an office like me, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming dance music pilgrimage, including where to catch the action from your sofa.

Where is it?

It's around 15km northeast of the famous Las Vegas 'strip' on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, a large complex of motorsport tracks.

How do I get there?

The best way to hit the festival each day is on the official shuttles. They're the only way to get dropped off right up by the festival gates, and they also have their own dedicated route to bypass regular traffic. Nifty, eh?

They will run from 6pm until 6am with the last shuttle to the festival leaving at 12am. You can find out more about the bus routes, times and prices here.

Or if you're feeling a little more flash, you could take a luxury helicopter. Up to you.

I've heard I can camp this year?

You sure can. Brand new for this year is EDC Camp, which means you can forget about the daily travel plans as you wander straight into the festival. And it's not your standard campsite either, with a bustling hub of entertainment, activities and amenities at its heart.

Who's playing?

Literally the biggest names in dance music, as well some of the best underground names tipped for big things in the future.

So it's a big deal?

I mean, where else do you get all those names in one place? Not to mention the 140,000 music fans a day too.

What are the people saying?

Oh SLANDER, you do spoil us.

Ricardo is spending his time wisely.

Tiësto's ready.

Renée's got her week all sorted.

And the winner of best costume goes to...

Is there much more going on than just the festival?

You bet there is. A lot of the lineup will be playing standalone shows across Las Vegas, at beach clubs, pools and more in what's known as EDC Week. You can check out the full listings and book tickets to each event here.

And if I'm not going?

Invite your mates over, dim the lights, turn your speakers up and stream the festival live on Friday night. Lock in here.

EDC Las Vegas will take place on 18-20 May 2018. Find out more on our guide, and join our EDC Las Vegas Waiting List to keep up to date with all EDC news and upcoming announcements.
