Festicket's Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist

Festicket's Anti-Valentine's Day Playlist

"If music be the food of love, play on", mulls the lovesick Duke Orsino indulgently in the opening lines of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, "Give me excess of it; that surfeiting / The appetite may sicken, and so die".

Just as long as music has been the vessel and accompaniment of saccharine sentiments and sweet nothings has it been the perfect outlet for expressing bitter criticisms of love, and just how sickeningly awful it can be. What better day than Valentine's to celebrate the cold, sour and empty hearts of popular music with our Anti-Valentines playlist. Like taking Gaviscon after gorging on too many cutesy chocolates, let our selection nullify the stomach-turning tunes that will no doubt domineer today's airwaves.

In an attempt to reflect the somewhat complicated experience of being hurt, heartbroken, and single, some of our picks openly celebrate the freedom of singlehood, whilst some moments seem to steep to the lows of accepting seemingly eternal loneliness.

Indulge in it. This one goes out to all the cold, jaded hearts...
