To help us muster some energy for the week ahead, we have a new track from The Chemical Brothers, and the hotly anticipated, although half-teased-already, new album from Blur.
The Chemical Brothers - Sometimes I Feel So Deserted (Teaser)
Ahead of their fifth album, due to be released this July, The Chemical Brothers last Thursday teased its hypnotic opener on Annie Mac's Radio 1 show. The track, titled 'Sometimes I Feel So Deserted' is a grungy electro track with nods to acid house, layered up by a mystery vocalist, unnamed even on the duo's official site. Luke Nightingale
The album is set for release on July 7th, ahead of their headline appearances at Glastonbury, Sónar, Bestival, Les Eurockéennes, Rock Werchter, OpenAir St. Gallen, Ultra Europe, Les Vielles Charrues, Le Cabaret Vert and Creamfields.
Blur – The Magic Whip (Album)
For the first time in 16 years, all four of Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree have managed to conjure up something distinctly Blur. 'The Magic Whip' is seeped in trademark insouciance, though with a little less of the snarl. And the breezy throwback of opener 'Lonesome Street' is the exception rather than the norm; this is an album that resists any temptation to pretend it's still 1999. Joel Robertson
