Quarantine Q&A: David Penn

Quarantine Q&A: David Penn

As lockdown continues across the world, we find out how artists are coping with life in quarantine. Next up in our new series is Spanish house don David Penn

What has been your go to quarantine food or drink?

Spanish paella. And to drink, Spanish beer Mahou – my favourite.

Are you trying to learn any new talents?

A few, yes. I'm watching lots of cooking and fitness tutorials.

Pick a movie or show everyone should watch now.

Ozark – it's all about a family that works for a Mexican drug cartel, trying to survive and not get caught by the FBI. Definitely worth a watch.

Are you working on new music? If so, what can you tell us about it?

Yes, I’ve been able to devote a lot more time to making new music. I finished a collaboration track with Ferreck Dawn, a remix for Alex Newell, a remix of the classic Heller & Farley 'Ultra Flava', my new record 'The Heat', and another new track which is a collaboration with KPD. Of course there are many more tracks that are currently a work in progress too.

Any tips on staying calm and happy?

Get some exercise every day, spend time with the family and make more music – it works for me.

What is one YouTube video you think everyone should watch?

My Defected festival set!

Pick one album that you think everyone should listen to while in quarantine.

Songs In The Key Of Life by Stevie Wonder

Are you exercising more or less? If more, do you have any at home workout tips?

I would say less because I can't get to the gym and I am using online fitness courses instead.

What is the first thing you want to do when life goes back to normal?

Play in a club or at a festival – what else?!
