Reading and Leeds Festivals have become a rite of passage for most British festival-goers, and it's not surprising when you gaze upon their lineup.

Isle of Wight

Headliners: Kasabian, Depeche Mode, The Killers, Liam Gallagher

Regarded as the Woodstock of the UK, and the setting for Jimi Hendrix's last ever gig, Isle of Wight Festival was the original British music festival, so popular, that it was even periodically prevented from happening by Parliament who were so thrown by this new field-gathering craze.

Now though, it's still as important as it was, with the pull to bag a festival exclusive for Fleetwood Mac, as well as a bill that's not just musically eclectic, but embraces all aspects of the arts, be it comedy, cabaret, poetry, talks, quizzes and even a fairground.

Arguably Britain's most left-field festival, Bestival is a toy-box of surprise, filled with quirkiness and utter oddity that'll make your imagination run wild.

Roskilde

Headliners: Bruno Mars, Gorillaz, David Byrne

With a mega lineup that's now become a given, Roskilde thrives in other areas. For one, what festival do you know that holds a naked run each year, with the prize being a free ticket to next year's event? Or a mass pillow fight? None, I imagine.

Oh, and all Roskilde's profits are donated to charity, meaning it's a festival created by festival lovers, for festival lovers, and now attracts around 130,000 people every year.
