NOS Primavera Sound 2015

The Portuguese sister of Spain's independent music gala

The Basics

4-6 June 2015
Porto, Portugal

Born in 2012, Primavera Sound's Portuguese little sister might be smaller, but it packs the same punch as its older brother.

Sharing their indie rooted lineup almost entirely, albeit it scaled down a tad in NOS' case, the siblings instead differ in setting. Where Barcelona's Parc del Forum is a sprawling, hyper-modern space, Porto's Parque da Cidade is grassy and wooded, straddling between city and sea.

Its musical offerings are also a delight, with both Patti Smith and Ride due to head west from Barcelona to sprinkle their touch on the Atlantic shores, making Primavera's more intimate counterpart impossible to overlook, comparing a lush coastal setting with the distinctive and eclectic Primavera stamp.

The Venue

NOS Primavera Sound 2015

Parque Da Cidade
Parque Da Cidade
Porto
Portugal

Taking place in a large city park between Porto and the Atlantic, NOS Primavera is nestled in the spectacular Douro river estuary. Porto's beautiful age-old buildings, port cellars and cuisine (check out the meat sweats) may not be high on your radar when booking your NOS Primavera ticket, but it really is a glossy city-break and a world class music festival rolled into one.
