The UK edition of the famous urban music festival
AFROPUNK FEST London is the UK edition of the US music festival celebrating the influence of blackness in alternative and punk culture.
Traditionally crowded out in the punk scene, the movement originated from a desire to provide black people with a sense of community, and has drawn comparisons with the early hip-hop movement of the 1980s.
Now embracing a variety of musical genres reflecting African-American culture, the festival has sought to become a beacon of inclusivity and diversity across music, arts, and culture.
Its London debut took place at the city's iconic Alexandra Palace with the likes of Grace Jones, Laura Mvula and Young Fathers heading up an all-day bill of urban stars in the UK capital.
Printworks is a former printing press that once churned out the Metro and Evening Standard newspapers.
Now a fully soundproofed space designed to contain the clatter of what was once Western Europe’s largest print facility, this is a chance to party in a uniquely historical and industrial setting.
