Great music in breathtaking surroundings
Bergenfest is Norway's biggest and most musically diverse festival. Rock, pop and indie are prominent every year, with the festival's typically star-studded lineups also squeezing in a few electronic twists.
With a venue as amazing and distinctive as Bergenhus Fortress, the festival could hardly fail to add another impressive summer party to Europe's ever-growing scene.
But with massive names like Sam Smith, alt-J, Ben Howard, Blondie and Robert Plant having made the Scandinavian pilgrimage in the last two years, it's clear that Bergenfest has all the elements to keep it up for many years to come.
Bergenhus Fortress provides a unique and incredible festival venue, with sections dating back to the 1500s and huge lawn spaces surrounding the fortress itself. The main stage takes up residence close to the walls, with satellite stages springing up in the surrounding area.
