Cutting the cake for its 10th birthday, the multi award-winning Bestival will take over the fields and forests of the UK’s Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight. More than 400 acts will perform across a multitude of stages from open-air dance floors to Big Top and Bollywood tents, wooded amphitheatres, bandstands, roller rinks and anywhere else they’ll fit in.

The line-up is curated by leftfield DJ Rob da Bank, so acts pendulum between global superstars and household names to doe-eyed newbies, comedians, poets, speakers, walk around theatre and anything else that entertains.

It’s also famous for getting fans to dig into their fancy dress boxes. This year’s dressing up theme is HMS Bestival, which should complement the usual tomfoolery and quirkiness rather nicely, me hearties.

    FAQs

The car parks are expected to open from 9am on Thursday 5th September and the campsites and box offices from midday, as per previous years. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday car parks and box offices are expected to open at 9am.

No entry is allowed into the site after midnight on any night. Campsites are expected to close at 2pm on Monday 9th September and car parks at 4pm.

Yes, you can bring in a reasonable amount of alcohol per person into the campsites for your own personal consumption. To save on having to carry all your stuff in one trip you will be allowed to re-enter the festival site with alcohol on Thursday and Friday but only with a reasonable amount for personal consumption. You’ll be asked to leave any excess alcohol outside the event.

Yes there are several options for charging mobile phones at the festival in the campsite areas; these are provided by independent traders and not by Bestival.

Yes there are showers available to use for campers at Bestival. Do be prepared for a queue (in all areas including Boutique and Wild Copse) as unfortunately the number of showers can't be increased on site due to the island’s shortage of water. It’s probably best to do at off-peak times such as the afternoon when they are quieter.

Yes there are plenty free water points located around the main arenas, fields and campsites. These will all be marked on the Bestival 2013 site map.

In 2012 fields that opened on Thursday included Tomorrow’s World, Magic Meadow, Grassy Hill, Wishing Tree, Stardust Field and Arcadia. Many of these fields will be open again, with a full line-up of live music and DJs in The Big Top.
