Newquay's famous music, sports and wellbeing festival

Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, specifically high winds, Boardmasters 2019 has been cancelled.

Following full consultation with all of the relevant authorities including independent safety advisors, Devon and Cornwall Police, emergency services and the Met Office, a final decision was made this evening

The safety of you, the fans and attendees, as well as performers and crew comes first, and the potential risk is too severe for the event to go ahead at this time.

All Festicket customers will be contacted shortly regarding next steps.

Boardmasters Festival is a music, sports and wellbeing festival in Cornwall, mixing a diverse musical offering with a huge variety of activities including surfing, BMX, yoga, paddleboarding, comedy and more.

Held on Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay in Newquay, Boardmasters attracts some of the worlds best surfers alongside over 50,000 extreme sports and music fans every August, keen to pair up their passions.

That means there are a huge variety of activities to get involved in, from surfing and BMX competitions, to morning yoga on the beach, paint fights, disco aerobics and much, much more.

Boardmasters also attracts some professional sportsmen and women, making it an ideal chance for fans to kick back and marvel at the skills of the pros, while also partying in their company to the broad music lineup.

2019's lineup includes Florence + the Machine, Foals and Wu-Tang Clan, who are set to play across their Watergate Bay site overlooking the spectacular Cornish coast. Expect sunset headline sets and late night parties.

What's more, Boardmasters are long-term supporters of Surfers Against Sewage, and the festival has won awards for their sustainability work, such as the daily beach cleans they run throughout the festival.

BY PLANE: Newquay Airport is the nearest airport to the festival, just 20 minutes away by taxi, and has domestic connections to the likes of Liverpool, London, Edinburgh and more. However, if you are flying from Europe, it is probably best to fly to either London or Exeter and then take a train down to Newquay.

BY TRAIN: If you are traveling from or via London, you can catch a First Great Western service from London Paddington down to Par, before changing onto another First Great Western or Cross Country service onto Newquay where the festival will be running a shuttle service. Similarly, there are good rail connections with the Midlands, the North and Scotland, however, most will require at least one change.

BY COACH: Big Green Coach will be running services to the festival from around the UK.

Yes, however, you must buy a parking ticket prior to arrival.

Those under 15 must be accompanied by an adult, while those under 10 go free and do not require a ticket. That said, only those 18 or over will be granted access to the beach sessions.

The festival does though have the following guardian policy in place:

  • 18 year olds can only accompany two under 16 year olds.
  • 24 year olds can only accompany four under 16 year olds.
  • 25 year olds can accompany more than four under 16 year olds.
