Extrema Outdoor Belgium is an electronic music festival held in Houthalen-Helchteren, in the northeast of the country.
Lineups of underground house and techno's heavy-hitters make the festival one of the region's biggest and best, and the demand for tickets is seemingly ever-increasing as dance music fans flock to the enchanting woodland and lakeside.
Central to this is an unerring commitment to promoting inclusivity, positivity and a sense of family. The festival makes everyone feel at home, from the superstar DJs at the top of the bill to the thousands of music fans on the every one of the dance-floors.
Close to the border with the southern tip of the Netherlands, Houthalen is in the east of Belgium. Lush countryside and a beautiful lake make it an idyllic spot for a summer festival.
Maastricht airport is actually the closest to the festival site, despite being over the border in the southern tip of the Netherlands. This is a good option if you plan to hire a car or take a taxi. In either case, the journey to the festival should take no more than 30 minutes (taking public transport from the airport would take over 4 hours).
If you are travelling by public transport or unable to fly to Maasricht, we recommend going via Brussels. If you are flying into Brussels, you can take a train straight out to Hasselt before boarding a bus onto Houthalen Gemeenschapsscholen. The festival site is just a 15 minutes walk from here.
Similarly, trains to Hasselt run from Bruxelles-Central and many other major cities in the region, although some routes may require a change.
You must be at least 18 to attend Extrema Outdoor. ID is required.
