Every year the city of Essouira invites you to experience the vibrancy of its public squares, the adventure of navigating through its maze of streets, and the picturesque views of its beaches at the annual gathering of Gnaoua Festival.

Described by many as "Morocco's answer to Woodstock", the event simultaneously evokes the the roots of North African culture, whilst exhibiting the present and future potential of Gnawa culture.

Immerse yourself in the relentless loud and hypnotic crowds, as music and colour fill the streets through walkabout performances and stalls selling a wonderful variety.

Listen to a unique selection of music by the beach and in a unique selection of venues, where you will hear local sounds mixed with jazz, soul, rock and hiphop and other national and international sounds.

Be apart of the growing culture of African festivals which not only pass on the tales of settlements past, but also provide encouraging reference points for the surrounding Maghreb youth, as well as a reflection of Africa's identity within the western world of arts and entertainment combining modern values and traditionalist ways.
