Kingsland Festival Groningen is a huge EDM and house music party on King's Day. Public holidays don't come much more extravagant than this, with the very biggest DJs in the world joining in for a full-day party.
A national dress code ensures the entire country turns orange, with face-paint galore and endless energy all part of the King's Day atmosphere.
Alongside sister shows in Amsterdam, Den Bosch, Maastricht and Twente on the same day, Kingsland Groningen finds itself well and truly in the midst of the wildest celebrations around.
South-west of the city centre, Stadspark Draftbaan is a great open space that is home to one of the country's best horse racing tracks.
BY PLANE: If you are unable to fly into Groningen, then we recommend flying into Amsterdam Schiphol, where you can catch a train directly onto Groningen. Groningen Airport is just a 40 minute bus (2, 402) or a 15 minute taxi ride from the city centre.
BY TRAIN: Groningen is easily accessible by rail from the rest of the Netherlands and neighboring Europe, however many services will require a change.
Bus numbers 3 and 4 will take you to Groningen, Bedrijven Peizerweg, which is just on the edge of the park. It is just a 12 minute walk from there to the festival site. Alternatively, you could get a taxi which will take less than 10 minutes and will cost around €20.
Minimum age of entry is 18.
