Metalfest Open Air is a Czech heavy metal festival held in the city of Plzeň in June, and is now one of the country's most recognisable metal events.

2018's lineup will see sets from the likes of Nightwish, Apocalyptica and Eluveitie, who will top a bill filled with distorted guitars, chest-rattling bass and pounding drums inside the outdoor amphitheatre.

BY PLANE:

The nearest airport is Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG). Upon arrival take the shuttle bus to Zličín, Metro B (16 minutes). From here take the RegioJet bus to Plzeň (1 hour). The festival site is a 23 minute walk from here, or alternatively take a taxi. 

BY TRAIN:

Plzeň hlavní nádraží is the central train station in Plzeň. It is accessible from most European cities but often requires at least one transfer. 

Yes, there is camping and its free. Surrounding fields are sectioned off and labelled as campgrounds for the festival.

No, but children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
