Polaris Festival is an electronic winter festival in the Swiss Alps this December. Held in Verbier's ski resort, famed for its off-piste slopes, the festival will see Luciano, Richie Hawtin and Dixon top a bill of house and techno across three days of indoor and outdoor parties.

With the festival's main stage located directly on the slopes, Polaris combines pioneering music with panoramic views of the mountains in what has to be one of Europe's most unique party locations. And by capping the capacity at 1,000, it makes sure this remains a truly intimate affair.

Alongside the music, the festival also throws up a variety of other activities, and has been known to host a sledge race between the artists playing, with the winning DJ invited back to play next year. Now that's something you wont see everyday.

Although Polaris' main stage only runs until 10pm each night, the party carries on till 4am in the local clubs and bars for those hard-edged ravers keen to keep it going till sunrise.
