Belgium's multi award-winning rock giant
Almost thirty years on from its first appearance as a small, one-day festival, Rock Werchter has scooped up the ILMC's Best Festival In The World award 5 times en route to taking its place amongst Europe's elite.
Last year saw an incredible array of music played out to 150,000 people, with the sonic gauge swinging from the heavy soar of Metallica to the more playful edge of Arctic Monkeys, and pretty much anything you could think of in between.
Throw in just a sprinkle of electronic and hip-hop acts – Skrillex, Major Lazer, Stromae – and you've got one of the biggest and most popular festivals on the continent.
Just outside the town from which it took its name, the festival has a huge main arena and three large campsites, split into 17 smaller sections.
Werchter is in the centre-east of Belgium, about 40 km from Brussels by road.
