A magical island experience
Summer Opening is a music festival held each year on the Portuguese island of Madeira. Now an established favourite on the island, the festival celebrates the summer season by welcoming a diverse lineup of performers to the city of Funchal for three days in the sun.
Spanning eclectic musical sounds, from Latin, African, Caribbean and Portuguese rhythms through to pop, rock and hip hop, the festival offers captivating performances with the picturesque hillsides and Atlantic ocean as the scenic backdrop.
In addition to the music, there is also the opportunity to explore the island's scenery and natural beauty, with paragliding, surfing, mountain biking, off-roading and sailing experiences all on offer to the music fans making the trip to Madeira.
The Parque de Santa Catarina is a park in Funchal, the capital of the Portuguese island of Madeira. Situated just inland from the marina, the park has impressive views of the Atlantic ocean and the city's hillsides.
