Rock out on the Rhine
Szene Openair is an eclectic music festival held annually in Lustenau, Austria. 2017 sees the festival return for its 28th edition, welcoming a wide array of musical talent, from globally renowned acts to up-and-coming local bands.
With a primary focus on rock, the festival regularly welcomes big name bands, including the likes of Parkway Drive and Enter Shikari in recent years. Rap and hip-hop have also been a feature of the programming, with German stars SSIO, Alligatoah, Casper and K.I.Z among those to have appeared. Beyond that, there is room on the lineup for indie, drum & bass, electro and host of other styles.
The festival also prides itself on its environmental consciousness, implementing a number of eco-minded campaigns; including a reusable cup system, free secure parking for bicycles, incentives for waste reduction, and a 'Love Your Tent' campaign encouraging all festival-goers to take their tents home with them.
Lustenau is an Austrian town on the border with Switzerland. The festival takes place just south of the town on the banks of the Alter Rhein, a cut off arm of the river Rhine.
