Waves Bratislava is a three day festival of European music. Sister to Waves Vienna, the festival will become a platform for local and regional artists to showcase their talent, whatever genre their roots may lie in.

Held within the charming Old Town district, the area's clubs, bars and cafes will come alive, while the 8,500 festival-goers float between each venue, discovering the freshest sounds in underground electro, indie and alternative.

Running alongside the music programme is the popular Waves Conference, which will feature keynotes, panels and workshops hosted by promoters, labels and managers, and will address the state of the music industry and its long-term potential.

With each element falling under the festival's mantra: 'East meets West', Waves hopes to bring together the best of Western and Eastern music in a fusion of incredible results.

A city built on medieval and communist-era architecture, Bratislava comes alive when darkness falls as its alluring buzz permeates its underground bars and clubs, seeping through the cracks up to street level. It's a city full of surprises, and easily one of the most underrated in Europe.

FAQs

The nearest airport is the M. R. Štefánik Bratislava Airport. From there, you can reach the city centre either by catching the bus no. 61 or by taxi.

Bratislava also has two main railway stations: the Main Station ('Hlavna Stanica' in Slovak) and Petrzalka. The former serves trains to and from Budapest, Prague and the rest of Slovakia while the latter serves essentially as a terminal for trains to and from Vienna (which is only 80km away from Bratislava). It takes approximately one hour to get to Bratislava from Vienna, two and a half from Budapest and four hours and fifteen minutes from Prague.

You can also reach Bratislava by bus with Eurolines, which also serves the connection between Bratislava and the Vienna airport, which is about forty min away.

Finally, the Twin City Liner is a catamaran passenger ship which provides transport from Vienna to Bratislava along the Danube in approximately seventy five minutes, and makes for a particularly enjoyable ride.

You must be at least 18 to enter the club venues.
