Noel Gallagher

Noel Gallagher may be best known for his role as lead guitarist in iconic britpop band Oasis, but the Manchester rocker has since gone onto release a number of solo albums with his band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds.

He is now regarded as one of the most influential British musicians of the past decades, with NME even calling a number of bands “Noelrock” in homage to his influence on them.

With Oasis, Noel Gallagher achieved huge success as they became one of rock music’s biggest groups, packing out stadiums around the world – including Wembley – and headlining festivals such as Glastonbury.

The band’s debut album, Definitely Maybe, was just the start. Released in 1994, it included hits ‘Live Forever’, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and ‘Supersonic’, and was regarded by many as the catalyst for the British rock music scene at the time, which soon became known as Britpop.

(What’s the Story) Morning Glory? followed in 1995, reaching the top of the album charts, and in 1997, Be Here Now became the fastest selling album in UK chart history.

Throughout the success, Oasis had a very public feud with fellow Britpop band Blur as the pair chased chart success, with the rivalry often spilling over into insults via newspapers.

However, the run came to an end 12 years later as Noel left the band following a falling out with brother Liam, deciding instead to go solo. He has since released three studio albums with Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, whom he continues to tour with.
