Founded by Artur Rojek in 2006 with the intention of offering Poland more than merely the homogenised music played on national airwaves, OFF Festival celebrates its 15th edition in 2020. Considering it's reached this milestone, Rojek's ambitions are soundly justified.
And who better to celebrate this landmark than welcoming the 'Godfather of Punk', Iggy Pop, to headline the festival.
Having spent the majority of his career on the fringes of success, Jim Osterberg aka Iggy Pop, at the ripe age of 72, now finds himself welcomed into the pantheon of contemporary legend, being one of the last remaining icons from a bygone era to still be plying his trade on the live stage.
Recent album Free saw Iggy experiment beyond his proto-punk roots, using jazz and the works of poets to express his latter-day contemplation. Despite breaking his own mould with his latest work, however, Iggy's live performances remain a raucous, unpredictable affair, keeping punk-rock's zealous spirit well and truly alive.
With recently-reformed Bikini Kill and Tropical Fuck Storm also announced, 2020's OFF Festival is going to be a riot. Stay tuned for further lineup announcements.
OFF Festival 2020 takes place in Katowice, Poland on 7-9 August next year. Join the OFF Festival 2020 Waiting List for further updates.
