Quarantine Q&A: Franky Wah

Quarantine Q&A: Franky Wah

As lockdown continues across the world, we find out how artists are coping with life in quarantine. Next up in our new series is Yorkshireman and house producer Franky Wah

What has been your go to quarantine food/drink?

Well they always start and end with a Yorkshire tea, but the weather has been blinding so I’m guilty of a gin and lemonade – or 10 – in the garden.

Are you trying to learn any new talents?

Yes, I’m trying to progress with the piano; I'm currently learning a beautiful Hans Zimmer piece. I might do a little video on Instagram once I perfect it.

Pick a movie or show everyone should watch now

Ohhhh great question. A film would have to be Stand By Me. It's one of the greatest films of all time. A show I’d have to say This Country, it’s basically like where I’m from.

Are you working on new music? If so, what can you tell us about it?

I'm always working on new music. I'm really set on putting large EPs and mixtapes together, I really feel it's the best way to tell a story and showcase consistency. I have The Revival Volume 1 released today and I already have four other mixtapes ready to go.

Any tips to staying calm and happy?

Yes, exercise and plenty of it. I love to box and weight lift but walking is something I've become almost obsessed with.

What is one YouTube video you think everyone should watch?

The angry guitarist, it's me every time I'm trying to perfect something in the studio.

Pick one album that you think everyone should listen to while in quarantine?

I mean, can I say mine? Also The Streets' Original Pirate Material.

Are you exercising more or less? If more, do you have any at home workout tips?

I’m doing a lot more walking, but I’d say with home workout tips, because a lot of what you will be doing is body weight exercises, work to a timer instead of reps. I love working in 30 seconds and one minute intervals.

What is the first thing you want to do when life goes back to normal?

Go out for a meal so I don’t have to cook.

Beatles or Rolling Stones? Why?

The Beatles. It’s a family thing. My nana and grandad were huge fans and I remember them taking me to see a Beatles tribute band and it was amazing.

Would you rather know the history of every object you touched or be able to talk to animals?

One million percent talk to animals. I talk to my dogs all the time.
