No doubt many of you are planning a summer holiday away in the guaranteed sun, and similarly, a good chunk of you are probably settling on Spain. Wise choice. Not just because it's full of culture, from art to food, and a charm that's incredibly infectious, but because it's absolutely drenched in music festivals.
I've been given the impossible task of trying to pick out just ten. Apologies in advance.
So, while I run off and hide, let's begin our run down...

Headliners: Arcade Fire, Fran Ocean, The xx
The indie giant has been going consistently for 15 years and has racked up a hall of fame that includes blur, The Cure and Arcade Fire. Primavera Sound sets up at Barcelona's Parc del Forum on the glorious Spanish coast, where over 100,000 people every year are treated to stunning sea views and the chance to take a dip.

Festival Internacional de Benicàssim
Headliners: Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Weeknd, Kasabian
The glowing beacon of the Spanish festival circuit that also sits comfortably at the global table too, and has done for 20 years with sheer consistency. Every year its showcase of rock, indie, alternative and electro basks in beautiful sunshine, renowned for its lazy beach days and hectic nights once the music begins come evening.

Headliners: John Fogerty + more to be announced
Representing the sharper edge of rock in our list is Azkena Rock. The riff-tastic two day rock exploration compliments a lineup that rips from punk to classic rock, from legends to cult favourites, all with an uncommercial feel that solidifies its 15-year history upon a foundation of unadorned rock love.

Headliners: Solomun, Jeff Mills, Recondite [live]
Picture this: fine, fine DJs such as Maceo Plex, Jospeh Capriati and Boddika weaving their sounds between futuristic site design, sculptures and interactive performance art.
When & where: 11-12 August 2017, Barcelona
Headliners: Justice, Nicolas Jarr, Moderat
The Barcelona electronic mecca that has become a global pioneer in the scene, pulling in the finest names on the block but also those emerging from the underground, with a track record of spotting what's hot that's second to none.
Taking up residency throughout the city with its infamous "Off Sónar" parties that permeate every pool, rooftop, bar and beach, this is a truly unique time to be in Barcelona. And there's also some time to explore the electronic genre further, with conferences and talks by leading industry professionals and creatives. Sónar is a must for any electronic fan.

Bilbao BBK Live
Headliners: Depeche Mode, Die Antwoord, Fleet Foxes
Bilbao BBK ticks all the location boxes with its mountainous backdrop. Oh, and the lineup isn't bad too, if Muse, Mumford & Sons, alt-J or Disclosure are your thing...
Nestled on the slopes of the Arriaz Mountains with an atmosphere that's intimate from the city, the festival provides some fantastic views over Bilbao, its beaches, and the most gorgeous sunrise you'll ever see. Fortunately, as temperatures soar, the music starts late, giving us the chance to either lounge on the beach, or tuck into a tapas of culture in Bilbao.

Mad Cool Festival
Headliners: Foo Fighters, Green Day, Kings of Leon
After an incredible debut in 2016, Mad Cool brings those at the top of the rock game to urban heart of Madrid, looking to cement itself as one of the country's most esteemed rock festivals.
When & where: 6-8 July 2017, Madrid
Headliners: The Flaming Lips, Fleet Foxes, Phoenix
Its name is the Spanish for 'life', and if you've ever been to Vida, you'll understand how fitting a title that is. Musicians and artists from all backgrounds come together to fill the intimate spaces throughout Vida's coastal woodland, and we're invited to join them in celebrating the artistic wonders of life.

Headliners: Martin Garrix, Icona Pop, Lori Meyers
Six days of sun drenched indie, rock, pop and electronic music, and you've got Arenal Sound in one. Despite being one of Spain's younger festivals - its first year was 2010 - the festival has had a rapid ascent, understanding that a music festival isn't solely about the music anymore, but about the experience too, and it is here that Arenal thrives.

Headliners: Interpol (Turn On The Bright Lights), Band of Horses, The Kooks
The Madrid based rock and indie feast now attracts fans from all over Europe for one last summer blowout. The day-long bash gets the full-on indie stamp with a lineup drawn from the likes of Foals, Beck and Bombay Bicycle Club over the years.
And with it being just the day, most people tend to pair it with a trip round Madrid, taking the party up to a weekend.
