France hosts some of the best music festivals in all of Europe, many of which have glorious scenic backdrops with festivals in the Alps and, of course, the one and only Paris. The below ten festivals are some of our favourites for these chilly autumn and winter months.

The Paris edition of this renowned global festival is a great way to spend a few autumn days listening to outstanding indie and alternative artists. Held in in the imposing Grande Halle de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement, you won't want to miss out on the esteemed acts and newer artists the feature on the festival's diverse lineup.

Wrap up your winter with the second edition of this electronic festival giant, with renowned DJs, typically spectacular production, and skiing opportunities in its beautiful location in the Alps. You'll have a whole week to allocate your time between skiing and enjoying the glorious views and community, or partying and focusing more on the music.

Trans Musicales Festival
Headliners: Alber Jupiter, Bantou Mentale, Les Grys-Grys, Lous and the Yakuza, Maverick Sabre, Acid Arab
In the past artists such as Daft Punk and Nirvana have played at Trans Musicales, so don't be surprised if you see the next big act before they're extremely big at this multi-genre music festival. There are labels, agents, and editors looking to scout up-and-coming acts, so it's no surprise that this is often where breakout artists make their debut.

What The Kaze Festival
Headliners: Frequencerz, D-Bloc & S-Te-Fan, Angerfist
What The Kaze is a ten-hour electronic festival that, along with the hard-hitting music, offers circus performers, dancers, and more. Though it's a smaller event, it is organised by the experts behind France's biggest harder styles festival, Hardkaze, so you're in safe hands.

Bebop is a multi-genre festival that has an emphasis on opposing discrimination, and takes place in a range of venues in Le Mans, including fast food and bars. Because of the wide array of music, spaces, and intended audience; everyone can find a space that they fit into at this event.

I Love Techno Europe
Headliners: Adam Beyer, Amelie Lens, FJAAK, Modeselektor, Rødhåd
I Love Techno originated in Belgium, but the electronic music celebration is now held in southern France. The event is a non-stop dance party with some of Europe's best DJs taking to the stage, from techno veterans to exciting breakthrough acts.

Big Bang Festival

Now in its sixth year, Big Bang is an electronic music festival with a cosmic theme, and filled with extraterrestrial decor. Besides the chance to enjoy some of underground house and techno's finest names, the festival is also great excuse to visit (and party in) the French capital.
