I've always found New Year's Eve a bit of a paradox. From what I can tell, what we're celebrating is that a new year brings a clean slate, a chance to re-focus ourselves after inevitably getting blown off course throughout the previous year.
That's all well and good, but how we choose to show our gratitude for this opportunity is to party harder than we have all year and wake up on the first day of our clean slate terribly hungover.
Perhaps I'm overthinking it. And at any rate there are some seriously great parties happening throughout the continent. Also a year is a long time, so if one hangover can derail your self-improvement plans, methinks they were destined to fail anyways.
Here are our choices of the best NYE events to welcome in 2019.
Awakenings New Year's Eve
Lineup: Maceo Plex, Helena Hauff, Pan-Pot, Joris Voorn, Ici Sans Merci
No one does production value like Awakenings. Their home in a converted gas works is the stuff of legend, big enough to put on indoor fireworks displays for over 3000 people to witness. Their NYE party has now become tradition, annually hosting a lineup of techno all stars.

Meet Me Backstage

The new kid on the block, this is the launch party for Meet Me Backstage, a new party brand in The Netherlands. And really starting off with a headline set from Solomun in the cavernous Onderzeebootloods converted warehouse isn't such a bad way to announce your arrival.

E1 & Percolate: New Year's Eve

This is the consensus pick for best NYE 2018 party in the city. And for a city like London, that people can agree on that is really saying something. The twelve hour party is headlined by some of the most versatile acts in the electronic scene, all kicking out the jams on E1's lauded Funktion-One sound system.

COSMO Festival NYE
