It's May, it's getting warmer, and the Northern Hemisphere is about to run headlong into another summer of festivals.
As you search through the endless options, Festicket is offering a helping hand to narrow things down, with up to 20% off on over 50 exclusive festival trips across Europe, for one week only.
We've gone one step further still, and picked out 10 that would be the highlight of any self-respecting summer.
Reykjavík may not be the warmest of locations, but the height of summer is unique when you're this far north: 24-hour sunlight bestows Iceland's Secret Solstice with a magic that you won't find at any other festival. Add in parties inside a glacier and a lava tunnel, plus artists like Foo Fighters, The Prodigy and Rick Ross – and it becomes pretty hard to turn down.
Slovakia's stand-out music festival collides rock, pop, folk, metal and electronic music with some breathtaking scenery around Trenčín airport. From this year's lineup, alt-J, Birdy, Boys Noize and Solange show just how varied it can be, while an added smattering of film screenings, dance competitions, theatre performances, poetry slams, debates and magic shows more than fill out the edges.
In amongst Amsterdam's atmospheric old docklands and warehouses, and right alongside the city's famous waterway, 18hrs Festival is exactly what it sounds like. Non-stop music from locals and internationals like Benny Rodrigues, Gary Beck, Cari Lekebusch and Route 94, for 18 hours straight.
Sprawling across the city of Cluj, Romania, Untold Festival has wasted not time in building a sky-high reputation. Armin van Buuren, Axwell ^ Ingrosso, Martin Garrix and Marshmello are just a few of the names set for this year's edition, as Untold shows that top-line festivals can be build out of nothing, if you've got the location, production and know-how to make it happen.
Since its first edition in 2014, Ultra Europe has established exactly the kind of party that festival hotspot Croatia had been looking for. The biggest DJs in EDM and arena house take charge of Split's Poljud Stadium, while boat parties, pool parties and Ultra Beach make the best of the county's incredible coastline.
Weekend Festival: Baltic and Finland Editions
Estonia's Pärnu Bay and Finland's Vanhankaupunginselkä Bay make for some pretty epic backdrops, especially when you see the size of Weekend Festival's production. deadmau5 and Armin van Buuren will be joined by Clean Bandit and Rae Sremmurd for a rave with a twist of eclecticism.
If your ideal summer festival mixes Damian Marley, Alpha Blondy and Lianne La Havas with a family-friendly atmosphere and (hopefully) good weather, think Belgium's Couleur Café. The northern suburbs of Brussels host a community-focused festival, with workshops and markets interspersed between the funk, soul, reggae, hip-hop, latin and dub offerings over three days.
Fresh Island Festival
Zrće Beach is known the world over for house and techno festivals, but once a year Fresh Island lands in the midst of it all, bringing a very different spirit to Novalja. Hip-hop, rap and RnB rule for three days and nights, across Kalypso, Aquarius and Papaya. This year's lineup is topped by French Montana, Sean Paul, Rae Sremmurd, Young Thug and Giggs.
From the indie side of electronic to more outright forms of alternative music, MS Dockville's bold identity reaps big rewards. Imposing, industrial dockland stages and secluded woodland performances set an intimate scene, packed full of character. Flume, Moderat, Glass Animals, Oh Wonder and Mura Masa will all turn out for this year's edition.
City locations don't come much more impressive than Helsinki's disused power station at Parrukatu, and lineups don't come much more intriguing than Flow Festival's. Lana Del Rey, The xx, Aphex Twin, Flume and Frank Ocean only start to tell the story of a weekend that immerses you in sound and colour.
