Sziget Festival 2020: Lineup Breakdown

Sziget Festival 2020

Sziget Festival 2020

Budapest, Hungary

Since its inception in 1993, Sziget Festival have annually curated incredible lineups overflowing with names topping the charts all over the world. For their 2020 edition, the lineup is, of course, no let down, with incredible artists from a plethora of different genres, providing a full week of music for every type of music lover out there.

With yet another insatiable collection of artists already announced and many more to come, it's easy to gloss over just how many top tier artists are on the bill from across a wide range of genres. Because of this, we thought it might be fun to dive into the pop, rock, indie, electronic, and hip hop lineups for this year's edition and highlight some of our favourite names.

If you want to check out the full lineup so far, including day splits, head to our Sziget 2020 guide.

Pop Music

Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi, Khalid, Glass Animals, Mabel

With artists such as Dua Lipa and Lewis Capaldi, Sziget are bound to have people flocking to their stages. Since 2017 these two artists have risen through the ranks of the UK charts to dominate the pop scene all over the world. Mabel and Khalid are both hitting multiple festivals this season, however this is one of the places in Europe you will get to see these two favourite pop artists in the same place.

If you’re looking for something a little different, Glass Animals are the perfect home from home. With a unique art pop vibe, they combine and cross over genres, creating a symphony of synths, drums and strings. Their bombast and rebellious nature is also something to admire.

Rock Music

Kings of Leon, The Strokes, Keane, Clutch, Miles Kane

The Strokes announced Sziget as one of 13 festivals they will be playing this summer, so whilst there are a multitude of opportunities to catch them, they are a band you have to see in your lifetime and on an island surrounded by music lovers is the perfect place. In the 20 years since their debut, The Strokes continue with their core sound that takes their fans to the magic tones of early 21st Century New York City.

Of course Kings of Leon still dominate the rock scene and Clutch stand as one of the last classic rock bands from the late 90s. Keane bring you the undying nostalgia of Britpop with their singalong anthem masterpieces, while Miles Kane, the former frontman of The Rascals, is a beautiful addition to this lineup and will perform songs from his most recent album Coup de Grace.

Indie Music

Foster The People, Tom Walker, Sigrid, Of Monsters and Men, Foals

Indie music came from that bridge between rock and folk music to connect with the audience on a different level that arguably cannot be conveyed through the mainstream pop genre. Tom Walker and Foals, with their engaging lyrics and bewitching beats, are some of the best to see live. Sigrid, who is bouncing across Europe this summer festival season, is also an exciting addition to the lineup this year. Of Monsters and Men and Foster The People are two bands that are able to get you dancing, no matter if you only know a couple of their songs.

Electronic Music

Major Lazer, Diplo, Sam Feldt [live], Alison Wonderland , Calvin Harris

Electronic music has catapulted itself into the mainstream in the past decade, with DJs finding themselves atop charts all over the world. Sziget have a huge collection of electronic artists to entertain you, with the likes of Major Lazer, Diplo and Camelphat bringing the party anthems to the stages. Famous electronic names such as Alison Wonderland and Sam Feldt [live] will give you the chance to dance until your feet hurt with their intense BPMs and euphoric beats. At Sziget you get to experience some of the best electronic names to come from western Europe and across the Atlantic ocean.

Hip Hop Music

Stormzy, A$AP Rocky, Blackbear, Denzel Curry

Stormzy is legendary for his festival performances, with his undeniably exciting ability to rile up the crowd and get everyone moving and screaming along with his lyrics. A$AP Rocky is also one who is performing at festivals all over the world, being a true crowd pleaser. Blackbear and Denzel Curry, though not as well known within the mainstream, are excellent and remarkable additions to the hip-hop genre for this festival. Branching away from what you know, all of these artists will welcome you into this genre with open arms and insane lyrical abilities.
