From humble beginnings in the UK rave scene of the early 1990s to its current place as a genre that straddles the musical underground and mainstream, drum and bass has always had a hugely devoted fanbase.
DJs and MCs alike are idolised by those who favour a tempo in excess of 160 BPM, and increasingly we're seeing festivals dedicated entirely to the genre, and lineups packed with a vast selection of drum and bass talent.
So after careful consideration, below is our pick of the ten best festivals for drum and bass lovers the world over.
Let It Roll Open Air & Let It Roll Winter

Where else to start but with the biggest drum and bass festival in the world. The Czech Open Air festival boasts eight stages and over 200 acts all dedicated to the genre in its various forms, so you'll be hard pushed to find somewhere with more drum and bass talent in one place.
And as if that isn't enough, they do it all again in the Czech capital come winter for an indoor festival of slightly smaller but no less full-throttle proportions.

Hospitality In The Park

From the team behind legendary label Hospital Records and its event brand Hospitality, this festival is the UK's first outdoor event dedicated solely to drum and bass. The festival's third edition at the end of last summer saw Hospitality, Let It Roll, Outlook, Med School and We Run-Vaderz host their very own stages, each packed with the scene's best talent.

As the name would suggest, SUNANDBASS is a week-long drum and bass summer party, held in beautiful Sardinia. Now over 15 years old, the festival calls itself "the original drum and bass holiday" where festival-goers from all over the world enjoy the stunning location, brilliant artists and inclusive atmosphere.

One of Europe's most famous drum and bass brands, Rampage have been hosting parties across Europe for over a decade. Come 13th March 2020, the 18th edition of the festival will kick off in Antwerp's Sportpaleis, the biggest of its kind in the country which will be filled be over 20,000 drum and bass fans.

One of the world's most flamboyant and creative festivals, Boomtown is separated into districts defined as much by their music as by their staging and production. Drum and bass is undeniably up there with the best-represented genres of all, featuring heavily on the lineups in DSTRKT 5, Sector 6 and in Bang Hai Towers (not to forget in the incredible aftermovies also).

Innovation In The Sun / Innovation In The Dam

If you're a fan of jump-up drum and bass then the Innovation festivals are probably the ones for you. As with Let It Roll, they host two events across the year, one indoor winter festival in Amsterdam and another summer event on Spain's Costa Brava, and the lineups for both events are packed with legendary DJs and MCs from the jump-up scene.

One for the bucket-list of bass lovers, Outlook Festival celebrates sound-system culture and by extension has no shortage of drum and bass. Legendary artists, new talents, and iconic MCs join forces, powered by some of the world's biggest, best, and most finely tuned sound systems for a week-long bass fiesta in the Croatian sun.

Festival lineup (2019): Pendulum, Andy C, Maduk, DIMENSION
Organised by the famous record label – co-run by Dutch DJ and producer Maduk – the focus here is unsurprisingly on liquid drum and bass. Having extended to a full weekend for the first time in 2017, the festival is now staking a real claim for the best drum and bass party that The Netherlands has to offer.

Hospitality On The Beach

Following on from launching new festivals in London over the last couple of years, the legendary label and brand have since headed abroad. The destination: the famous resort and festival hotspot of The Garden, Tisno. And they're not doing it alone, taking the likes of Sun & Bass, Shogun Audio, EXIT Records and Gimme Five with them.

There aren't many opportunities to party in the company of a great fire-breathing metal spider, which makes any chance you have to get to Arcadia one you should definitely take. Their stop in London in May 2019 will be their only UK outing for the year, and will see the spider be joined by a host of bass-heavy DJs to keep the BPM high.
Alongside the spider, there will also be a brand new incarnation of The Reactor – a 360 degree immersive indoor experience, complete with new sculptures, installations and ground breaking performance.
