The 5 Best Moments from Tomorrowland 2019 Weekend One

Tomorrowland is always full of crazy moments. No matter how much you know that, no matter how many times you tell yourself to expect the unexpected, every year it still amazes.

The first weekend of the world's biggest dance music festival is officially in the books, but the memories made will last forever. It had a little of everything, celebrity-fan interactions, touching tributes, never before seen stage production, and, oh yeah, more epic drops than you know what to do with.

Here are our top five favourite moments from Tomorrowland 2019 Weekend One.

The Big Aristotle makes his presence felt

The biggest story of the weekend was NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal. Shaq aka DJ Diesel aka many other things played the MainStage, but he didn't stop there. He headbanged in the front row, he moshed, he picked people up and raised them over his head like they were the Larry O'Brien trophy. You know, normal stuff.

Da Tweekaz take the MainStage to new heights

The Tomorrowland MainStage is sacred ground, generally reserved for big time EDM acts. However, in recent years the electronic world has shifted towards harder sounds so the festival has opened itself up to other takes on dance music. So it was that hardstyle leaders Da Tweekaz found themselves playing the MainStage and they didn't let the opportunity pass, bringing the BPM up higher than any act in Tomorrowland MainStage history. See if you can spot the moment below.

Eric Prydz debuts his next level stage show

Tomorrowland is of course always know for insane stage production, but Eric Prydz officially one upped the competition this weekend when he debuted his brand new "Epic 6.0" stage show. The influential DJ performed inside a circular metal contraption (dubbed the holosphere) and used 3D visuals to make the show really come out of the stage.

Tiësto gets emotional paying tribute to Avicii

The Dutch sonic master couldn't help but get a little emotional during his MainStage set. Dance music is generally about letting go of your troubles and having a good time, so it's always moving when someone takes the time to honour a fallen legend.

3 Are Legend close out the weekend

After a long and drop-filled weekend, there was one more surprise for the Tomorrowland faithfuls. Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike teamed up with Steve Aoki to close out the MainStage Sunday night. Billing themselves as 3 Are Legend, the trio lived up to the lofty title.
