Boardmasters may have knocked it out the park this year when it comes to its music lineup – Foals, Florence + the Machine, Wu-Tang Clan and the recently announced Rudimental are all heading down to Cornwall this August – but Boardmasters is much more than just a music festival.
With that in mind, we decided to pick out eight non-music activities that anyone heading down to Newquay this summer should definitely try out.
Learn to surf
With Newquay being the UK's home of surfing, there's really no excuse to not be hitting the waves. And if you're new to surfing, you're in good hands with lessons for all levels running throughout the weekend.
Watch the pros
Boardmasters coincides with the World Surf League qualifying series, meaning some of the country's best surfers will be competing to qualify for the World Championship Tour. So not only will you be able to kick back on the beach and watch them do their thang, there's also a decent chance you may spot a few out partying after.
Find your inner zen
Immerse yourself in Boardmasters bursting programme of all things holistic, healing and wholesome, including aerial and beach yoga, creative workshops, life drawing, holistic massages and more.
Go on an outdoor adventure
Boardmasters isn't just about surfing, with a whole range of alternatives for water lovers, including SUP adventures, coasteering, kayaking and wild coastal runs.
Kick back in a hot tub
When the sports and partying gets a bit much, there's no better place to recharge those batteries than at Kernow Springs, a natural eco-spa that is a sanctuary to relax and unwind, all the while taking in panoramic views of the beautiful Cornish coastline.
Explore over 100 food and drink experiences
Boardmasters doesn't take their food and drink offerings lightly, inviting an incredible range of traders in to delight your tastebuds: from Wild Oyster fine-dining to premium street food, not forgetting the traditional Cornish pasty.
Hunt for a gem
As you wonder around the festival site, take things a little slower and browse the throng of stalls showcasing the finest local artisans and hand-picked apparel – the perfect souvenir from a great weekend.
Visit the circus or take a workshop
You may not expect it, but Boardmasters is a fantastic festival for the whole family, with eccentric acrobatics, crafty workshops and comedy all on the agenda, meaning you can be sure the little ones will be entertained all weekend.
Boardmasters Festival will take place on 7-11 August 2019.
