The grandaddy of all electronic music festivals have announced their 2017 lineup. Even when you look over previous editions and have some idea of what to expect, the Mysteryland lineup never ceases to amaze.
Headlining the annually stacked festival this year are deadmau5, Armin van Buuren, Alesso and Axwell ^ Ingrosso. Don't really need to read more, do you.
But in case that somehow wasn't enough, joining them will be the likes of Carl Cox, Above & Beyond, Brennan Heart, Sven Väth, Craig David, Wildstylez and many more of the top electronic acts in the world.
To mark the occasion, we thought we'd offer a bit of context on Mysteryland, to let you know just what you're dealing with here.
Started in 1993, Mysteryland is the oldest running electronic music festival in the world. Talk to any electronic music festival organiser and they'll all tell you the same thing: Mysteryland laid the groundwork and inspired them to start their own party.
What is so special about the festival is ambition. Not happy to focus on a single genre or just present the most successful acts, Mysteryland's goal is to represent the entire spectrum of electronic music.
This means you're going to get the biggest names, the legacy acts, the trend setters and the underground up-and-comers all in one place, over the span of two days.
To do this is, of course, a massive undertaking. Over 200 DJs and live acts are spread across 12 stages, each one uniquely designed to meld with the music to warp your sense of reality. Organisers are clearly doing something right because each year the festival welcomes over 100,000 people ready to rid themselves of their inhibitions and make some memories.
The entire festival is an immersive experience. Strange creatures roam the grounds, while various art instalments and interactive structures seduce you further down the rabbit hole. And with a campground onsite, resistance to Mysteryland's hypnotic allure is futile.
