New Music Monday: Blur, David Guetta & CHVRCHES

This week we get the ball rolling with a dosage of Blur, David Guetta & CHVRCHES. 

Blur - Go Out (Single)

Running up to Blur's first album in 12 years, the cockney britpoppers have released teaser single 'Go Out'. The track, a tale of solitude and the mundane, is set to a thudding bassline, crackling distortion and Albarn's typically elongated vocals. Luke Nightingale

David Guetta ft. Emeli Sandé – What I Did For Love (Single)

Pushing Emeli Sandé into the foreground, David Guetta resists his usual ramped-up synths but still provides a characteristically high-energy counterpoint to his guest vocalist’s gentle ballad. The outbursts of 90s-dance-inspired piano are a highlight, and the whole thing remains satisfyingly low-key. Guetta will be spinning tracks at this year's Wireless Festival, Ultra Europe, Les Vieilles CharruesWeekend Festival. Joel Robertson

CHVRCHES - Cry Me A River (Cover)

Scottish synthpop trio CHVRCHES took to Radio 1's Live Lounge last week to deliver a sobering, creepy edition of Justin Timberlake's 2002 hit 'Cry Me A River', layered up with howling synths and rhythmic drums, and soothed by Lauren Mayberry's enchanting vocals. Luke Nightingale
