Cooking up a storm this week is the first single in two years from Disclosure and Florence and the Machine's third album.
Disclosure - Holding On (Single)
The first single since 2013's 'Settle', Disclosure's newest release typifies their trademark sound: swooping synths punctuate through garage-esque percussion, while renowned jazz singer Gregory Porter's soulful vocals bring it all together. Luke Nightingale.
Florence and the Machine – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful (Album)
After a year marked by "a bit of a nervous breakdown", we might have expected something a little more downcast from Florence Welch. But How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful embodies its title's grand scope and tentative optimism throughout most of its 14 tracks. That trademark stadium-filler sound is still there, contrasted by softer ballads; the album's balance is one of its biggest strengths. Ahead of a very busy summer festival season, Florence and the Machine have armed themselves well for all stages great and small. Joel Robertson.
