New Music Monday: FFS, De La Soul & Slum Village

The eagerly awaited album by the fresh collaboration between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks drops today, along with another collab., this time from Slum Village and De La Soul.

FFS - FFS (Album)

A near-perfectly balanced blend between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks – with a healthy does of MGMT's finer qualities thrown in for good measure – FFS is creative indie-pop like we've not had it for quite a while. Paranoia, delusion and anxiety make rare appearances in mainstream lyricism, while the light-hearted counter-weight is remarkably well judged. In fact, there's not much not to like about this record. Joel Robertson.

FFS will play at Bažant Pohoda, Super Bock Super Rock, Benicàssim, Cruïlla Barcelona, INMusic and Lollapalooza Berlin this summer.

De La Soul & Slum Village - Right Back (Single)

Detroit hip-hop collective Slum Village have teamed up with New York peers De La Soul to lay vocals over a J Dilla produced track, 'Right Back'. Piano driven, and with a classic Dilla drum beat, the groovy track sets the mark high for upcoming album 'YES!', due out June 16. Luke Nightingale.FFS

You can see De La Soul at Boardmasters and Wireless10 this year, while Slum Village will be performing at Calvi on the Rocks.
