Sea You is one of Germany's best-loved electronic music festivals. Returning to the banks of Tunisee for another scenic two-day party on 14 & 15 July, this year's edition once again welcomes a lineup of the scene's biggest DJs.
We've picked out some of our favourite mixes from just ten of those acts appearing this time round.
KiNK – RA Live
KiNK is quite the showman. And his live sets – like this one from Into The Valley 2017 – have become almost a thing of legend in the electronic music world.
Nina Kraviz - Mixmag Cover Mix
Although the Russian techno queen said that this mix is really one for "winter listening", I think the dreamy, melancholic soundscape she creates works any time of the year. Plus who doesn't want to hear a low-quality garage recording of her old band?
Dirty Doering – Breit Nights
I'll be honest, I wouldn't normally have the patience to listen to a 3-hour long mix in full. But actually this one is a pretty mesmerising and captivating journey, with plenty of changes of pace and mood to keep things interesting for the duration.
Hot Since 82 – Summer 2017 Mix
Some (including yours truly) might be guilty of discounting Hot Since 82 as a purveyor of slightly simplistic tech-house. But this expertly crafted summer mix from last year ventures through deeper, more mellow and melodic sounds, acid influences and Balearic vibes as if to prove me wrong in spectacular fashion.
Charlotte de Witte – Groove Podcast
There aren't many acts in the scene on as impressive an upward trajectory as Charlotte de Witte, and if booming, cavernous techno is your thing then she's definitely got something to offer.
Len Faki – Essential Mix
An absolute veteran of the Berlin techno scene, few acts have represented the city's sound for as long as longstanding Berghain resident Len Faki. And this Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 earlier this year is no exception.
Monika Kruse – Boiler Room
Another iconic German DJ, Monika Kruse has been smashing sets since the early nineties. And this Boiler Room set from 2016 is as good an example of that as any.
Giorgia Angiuli – Live for Cercle
There's so much to love about this mix/live set from Italian producer and performer Giorgia Angiuli. The fact it's on the edge of cliff. The videography. The live vocals. The theremin (and accompanying pink monkey).
Boris Brejcha – Cercle Mix
The creator (and seemingly the only proponent) of a sound he calls 'high-tech minimal', Boris Brejcha's set at Château de Fontainebleau for Cercle is made up entirely of his own tracks. One commenter reckons it is "the best set that was ever published on youtube!", although how much mixing's actually going on is up for debate.
Neelix – Live at NIBIRII
As well as the wealth of house and techno on the Sea You lineup, they've also enlisted the services of some trance giants. And there aren't many in the scene more popular or likeable than Neelix.
