Undeniably one of the UK's most beautiful and magical music festivals, Secret Garden Party sets itself apart from the rest of the country's festival circuit.
Set in a ten acre landscaped garden, the festival is a surreal world of creativity, colour and mystery; the perfect place to escape the normality of everyday life and embrace one of new experiences, playfulness and surprises.
Filled with bizarre stages and interactive art installations, Secret Garden Party is all about engagement and play, encouraging everyone to dress up, get silly and most importantly be free. Think cosmic knitting, paint fights, floating dancefloors, laser wars, mud wrestling, dance-offs and even the odd dip in its lake.
Walk in any direction and there's every chance you'll stumble across a secret woodland stage, a secluded speakeasy or a quirky theatre show. There's even talk of portaloos leading to secret bars and fields of sunflowers. As ridiculous as it may sound, SGP is one of just a handful of festivals that make it seem plausible.
Its musical programme is equally varied, showcasing artists from the worlds of electronic, indie, folk, pop and more. Electronic/folk band Crystal Fighters, indie-poppers Metronomy, and legendary Jamaican ska group Toots and the Maytals will top its bill for 2017.
But as anyone who has ever been will know, the music is just a small part of SGP's vibrant mix, which will this year be following the theme of fame, media and celebrity, giving its unique take on this troubling vision of our world.
Where normal festivals follow a set template – campsite, stages, bars – Secret Garden party tears up the rulebook, handing over the reins to some of the world's most innovative artists, designers and collectives, letting them take the wildest corners of their imagination and projecting them onto reality.
