It's finally here! With Sziget 2019 officially underway till Tuesday, it's time for the classic last minute planning session. To make the process as easy as possible we've put together a list of everything you need to know to get the most out of your festival experience. No need to worry, just read through the list, get yourself to Obuda Island and have a great time.
How do I get there?
The festival itself takes place on Obuda Island, easily accessible from central Budapest. If you're flying in for the festival, Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) is the most convenient international airport for you.
Getting into the city centre from the airport is simple, just take the Airport shuttle 100E bus which takes about 30 minutes and drops you in Deák Ferenc Square.
To get from Deák Ferenc Square to the festival take the M3 subway to Árpád híd (8 minutes). From here transfer to the 34, 106, or 918 bus and get off at Szentlélek tér H (5 minutes). Here take the H5 sub to Filatorigát (2 minutes) and then walk across the bridge onto the island and into the festival (10 minutes).
What's the weather forecast?
In typical Budapest fashion the weather running through the entire festival is looking pretty idyllic, if perhaps a little hot. Every day is looking sunny, with highs ranging from 27 to 35. Drink lots of water and don't forget a hat and sunscreen.
Is there a playlist I can use to prep?
Of course there is, we've got you covered.
Any sets I should definitely not miss?
Over its seven days there are many, many sets going down at Sziget 2019 that shouldn't be missed. By now you probably have an idea of what you want to see, but if you're still on the lookout for some interesting artists to check out, here are three that will be particularly great.
