Right, I'm not going to come out with some thesis on how The Killers are pushing musical boundaries. I think we can all agree that's not what we're expecting, or even wanting, from them.
But what I have no shame in saying is how f-ing great they've been at producing some absolute anthems. I mean, there's literally no house party in the world that cannot be improved by sticking on Mr. Brightside, right? If Rødhåd dropped it mid-Berghain set I'd be like "fair play, it is a banger." Anyway, I think you get my sentiment.
And with that sentiment right at the forefront of this article (it literally couldn't be more at the front) here are ten killer Killer songs that'll get you as bat-shit crazy for them as I am.
No point delaying the inevitable really.
When You Were Young
This song appears in the video games Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, SingStar Amped, Rock Band and Guitar Hero Live. And we all know how bloody epic they all were.
There aren't many bands that ponder life's biggest questions, like "are we human or are we dancer?"
Smile Like You Mean It
This tune is written in the key of F-sharp major... apparently. Mind. Blown.
Read My Mind
"I don't shine if you don't shine." Oh Brandon, you selfless romantic.
Somebody Told Me
"Well somebody told me you had a boyfriend, who looked like a girlfriend, that I had in February of last year." I mean, everyone can relate to this, right?
Not just great and making songs, but also videos...
All These Things That I Have Done
"I got soul, but I'm not a soldier." The awareness to link two completely unrelated words together because they sound similar. Utter genius.
Jenny Was A Friend of Mine
The opener from their debut album. Up there with The View From The Afternoon, Is This It and Like Eating Glass for announcing your arrival.
Glamorous Indie Rock & Roll
I mean, who doesn't love indie rock & roll? It's clearly the best genre.
