Though only into their second Alpine outing, Tomorrowland Winter is already one of the most popular music & snow-sport festivals out there. After a massive debut earlier this year, the festival returns to the picturesque town of Alpe d'Huez from 14-21 March.
As the excitement for round two begins to boil, here's everything (so far) you need to know. To keep up to date with all further Tomorrowland Winter 2020 news make sure to join our mailing list.
Where is it?
Tomorrowland Winter will be again be held in the famous ski resort of Alpe d'Huez in the southeast of France, not far from the border with Italy. The resort is located only one hour from Grenoble, two hours from Lyon and less than five hours from Paris.
When is it?
The whole week-long experience is from Saturday 14 March to Saturday 21 March 2020, during which the slopes will be open along with various bars and stages. On Tuesday 17 March there will be a warm-up party, and then the festival will start in earnest from Wednesday 18 March to Friday 20 March.
How do I get there?
If you're coming by plane you can fly into either Lyon or Grenoble. Alternatively the closest train stations are Gare de Lyon St Exupery and Gare de Grenoble. Shuttles from the airport and train stations will be available to purchase nearer the time.
By car, follow the signs from Grenoble to Alpe d'Huez, Auris-en-Osans, Villard Reculas, Oz-en-Oisans or Vaujany. Please be aware that winter conditions mean that the roads can be dangerous, and snow chains and snow tires are legal requirements, as are having a safety vest and warning triangle spare in your vehicle.
When do tickets & packages go on sale?
Information on when tickets and packages go on sale will be released in the coming weeks. Again, make sure to sign up to our mailing list to be the first in the know.
Both 4-day and full 7-day packages will be available.
What's included in the ticket package?
Festival access, lodging, lift and ski passes will all be included in the Tomorrowland Winter tickets – for both 4 and 7 day packages.
What is the theme?
Naturally, Tomorrowland has to have a theme, and as such the first winter edition was suitably titled The Hymn of the Frozen Lotus. The next instalment takes a page out Tomorrowland's summer festival's book (if you'll pardon the pun): The Book of Wisdom - The Frozen Chapter.
Following on from the original The Book of Wisdom theme, that comforting and familiar narrator voice tells us of the hidden, frozen chapter that has long gone unread. Expect more cinematic teasers to follow!
Afrojack, Armin van Buuren, Martin Garrix, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Steve Aoki, NERVO, Oliver Heldens, Lost Frequencies, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Charlotte De Witte, Timmy Trumpet and more have been announced in the first wave of artists.
What if I can't ski?
Ski lessons will be available to book in addition to festival packages, along with ski rental, transfers and restaurant reservations. Alternatively, there will be other day activities for non-skiers and stages will be accessible by lifts without the need to ski.
Is there an age limit?
Yes, you have to be 18 or over to attend Tomorrowland Winter 2020. Please make sure you bring a valid form of ID.
