Jamaica is known for may things, including the food, people and beaches but perhaps the most famous is the country's music. With such a rich musical history it's no wonder that people want to celebrate the culture. Reggae music in particular is loved worldwide and has generated plenty epic music festivals around the globe.
Bringing a taste of The Caribbean across the shores, here are our top ten reggae festivals in the USA.
Reggae on the River

With some of the biggest names in Reggae supporting this 35-year long event, it is hard to miss this if you are a fan of the genre. Combining music and culture the festival began in 1984 to raise money to help rebuild the Mateel Community Centre.
The non-profit festival is made up almost completely of volunteers and has become a huge social event ingrained in every reggae fans calendar. After 35 years, Reggae on the River is still the perfect place to surround yourself with friendly and interesting people, listening to hypnotic and meditative, yet rhythmic reggae music.

9 Mile Music Festival

9 Mile Music Festival, also known as The Marley Fest, began in 1993 as a musical testament to the world renowned artist Bob Marley. The festival was founded by Marley's mother, Cedella, as a tribute to her late son to spreading the messages of peace, love and unity.
Throughout the decades, the non-profit festival has provided over 3 million canned goods, distributing them to homeless shelters and domestic centers throughout Miami. The 2019 edition will mark the 25th anniversary for the festival and will be keeping up the tradition once again.
Largely focused on reggae, the festival also incorporates, hip-hop, R&B and dance music to their lineup, along with offering plenty non-musical events including yoga, body painting, lectures and a drum circle on the beach.

Reggae in the Desert

The one day Reggae In The Desert Festival is Las Vegas' largest reggae festival and is a celebration of both the music and lifestyle of the Caribbean. Located at Clark County Amphitheatre the 10 hour festival is a perfect way to spend the day before hitting the strip by night.
Founded in 2002, Reggae in the Desert holds true to traditional reggae roots by providing not only sounds of the Caribbean, but also Caribbean food via an onsite food court and arts and crafts vendors, allowing attendees to walk away with island vibes.

Roots on 66

Roots on 66 is a two day reggae festival. The family friendly festival is the perfect way to end your summer.
Located in Victorville, the festival is the biggest of its kind in SoCal, bringing over thirty of todays top reggae artist from all over the globe. Spread out across two stages and four acres of charming scenery.
Alongside the music, Roots on 66 also offers food and craft brew vendors, exclusive march tents and a classic car show to celebrate the world renowned Rout 66 location.

Reggae Rise Up

Kentucky Reggae Festival

The Kentucky Reggae Festival dubs itself ‘Louisville’s hottest event on Memorial Weekend’, and rightly so.
The mammoth festival hosts a variety of different reggae and dancehall acts for all music fans across different stages, as well as craft stalls and delicious authentic Jamaican delicacies. You can listen to great music and eat great food whilst basking in the Kentucky heat.

Ithaca Reggae Festival

Ithaca Reggae Fest is dedicated to the protection of Cayuga Lake through a conscious celebration of Ithaca’s legendary reggae community and its history.
The festival is a beautiful and authentic day of positive vibrations and has become much loved in the local community as a not-for-profit event featuring great music, local craft stalls and original Caribbean food.

One Love Cali Reggae Fest

One Love Cali Reggae Festival takes place at Queen Mary Park in Long Beach. The three day festival is in its fourth year and includes performances from world class artists.
Although the festival focuses on reggae music, lifestyle and culture, there are also performances from some of today’s best ska, punk and R&B artists.
With great music, open spaces, waterfront views, and a beautiful city backdrop, this is one adventure not to be missed, including its wealth of after parties in the surrounding areas.
