You might have noticed that Aphex Twin has been busy recently. Following a series of mysterious 3D posters that popped up in locations across the world - London, Turin, New York, LA, Tokyo – it was revealed that a new EP was on the way from the man also known as Richard D. James.
The planned unveiling then failed its epilepsy test for airing on Adult Swim, but eventually Collapse was unveiled, with the opening track 'T69 Collapse' the first to be released and a full EP to officially follow on 14 September.
Opportunities to see the enigmatic producer are famously few and far between, and as it stands you aren't exactly spoilt for choice. But despair not, here's where you can see the man himself before the year is out.
When & Where: 26-27 October 2018, Bilbao
The man of mystery tops the bill alongside Fever Ray, MGMT, Jon Hopkins, Editors and Slowdive, on a lineup that also includes the likes of Nina Kraviz, Daniel Avery and Mumdance. All housed in the Bilbao Exhibition Centre.
When & Where: 1 November 2018, Berlin
Not a festival appearance, but rather 'Aphex Twin plus special guest' in the German capital's famous venue. The bad news: tickets for this one sold out some time ago.
Club To Club
When & Where: 3 November 2018, Turin
The Turin festival is broadening its musical spectrum slightly this year, with appearances from Blood Orange, Fever Ray, Beach House and serpentwithfeet alongside the usual diverse mix of forward-thinking club music. But Aphex Twin is more or less the perfect representation of the attitude and approach to music that the festival embodies.
