More Than 60 French Festivals Commit to Plastic Reduction

We Love Green, Ecaussystème and Marsatac are among more than 60 French festivals to have signed up for the new 'Drastic on Plastic' initiative aimed at reducing the environmental impact of music festivals, namely by banning single-use plastic.

The move follows growing concerns over the widespread and continued use of plastic products proven to be harmful to the planet, and the new initiative mirrors a similar campaign from the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) which saw a number of UK events commit to reducing or banning single-use plastic.

The initiative also includes a commitment to participate in workshops geared towards implementing the tools and practicalities of transitioning away from a reliance on plastic. While there is still some way to go before festivals can truly consider themselves part of the solution, as opposed to part of the problem, the campaign is a definite step in the right direction

You can see which festivals have signed up to the campaign on this interactive map.
