Primavera Sound festival have revealed that the revered 90s indie band Pavement will reunite for two exclusive performances celebrating their 30th anniversary at Primavera Sound Barcelona and NOS Primavera Sound Porto in 2020.
The announcement came on the last night of the festival's 19th edition in Barcelona, and was joined by news of Primavera Sound's expansion into North America with a new Los Angeles edition, as well as the new Primavera Weekender, which will take place in a Robin Hood-themed resort in Benidorm this November.
Rumours of a Pavement reunion had circulated recently following frontman Stephen Malkmus' comments on the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast in which he called the called the chances "realistic". The Californian slack-rockers disbanded in 1999 before a reunion tour ten years later. Since then its members have followed their own projects, such as Stephen Malkmus & The Jinks and guitarist Scott Kannberg's Spiral Stairs.
