The world's first ever gig inside a volcano will take place at Secret Solstice 2016, the festival has announced today.
In what will be a hugely exclusive experience, the festival will be taking just 20 guests in a helicopter ride up and onto Thrihnukagigur volcano, before descending to a depth greater than the Statue of Liberty – around 400ft – into the inactive magma chamber.
The festival is yet to announce who will be performing, however, director Fred Olafsson has promised guests wont be disappointed.
"We have someone special, though we want attendees to be surprised when we announce who it is at a later stage," he said.
"I will say that it will be an acoustic performance by a very famous name, and we promise guests will be impressed when we finally make the big reveal."
Tickets for Inside the Volcano cost $2074/€1868/£1454, which includes the event, helicopter transport from Reykjavík and refreshments, as well as a VIP ticket to the main festival.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience joins a number of special events already announced for Secret Solstice 2016, including an electronic party at Iceland’s oldest geothermal lagoon, a midnight sun boat party on the Atlantic Ocean, and two shows inside the country's second largest glacier.
Secret Solstice 2016 takes place in Reykjavík on 17 -19 June 2016 and will feature Radiohead, Deftones, Of Monsters and Men, Jamie Jones, and many more.
