Bristol's Simple Things Festival has announced the full lineup for its ninth edition this October. Topping the bill are Holly Herndon, who will perform her critically-acclaimed third album PROTO; Ghanian dance musician Ata Kak; iconic Mancunian post-punk outfit A Certain Ratio; British breakout artist Nilüfer Yanya and Californian-born tech-house DJ Avalon Emerson.
Also new to the festival is an opening concert on the Friday which will present a world debut of new audio-visual work from William Basinski, Evelina Domnitch and Dmitry Gelfand.
As ever the festival will be spread across the city's various music venues, and will be split into two halves – day and night. Those performing the day section include Biig Piig, Snapped Ankles, Squid, Pom Poko, W.H. Lung and Big Joanie, whilst the likes of Jayda G, Andrew Weatherall, Josie Rebelle and Laurel Halo will lead proceedings into the night. See the full lineup below.
The festival began in 2011 and soon gained traction for its eclectic and left-field lineups. Jamie XX, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Caribou, Moderat, Jon Hopkins, Nicolas Jaar, Warpaint, Fontaines D.C. and Slowdive are among those who have performed previous editions.
